Centerpieces take Center Stage

So how did I spend my easter week end? Making wedding centerpieces, of course!

OK, so I knew we wanted to cut back our wedding costs as much as possible, and there were several areas that I was willing to trim. First among the list is centerpieces. While I want something pretty and formal enough for a wedding reception, I'm also not afraid of silk.

My mom and I took a couple trips to Michael's and we found a lovely silk arrangement that we thought we could copy. So, armed with a 40%off coupon and good intentions, we struck off through the aisles of silk flowers. We ended up with a lot of greenery, some pretty white and red flowers, and (the piece de resistance, read in a french accent) sparkly red butterflies.

Here is the final result:

We have neat mirror tiles upon which these little beauties will sit, and they will be surrounded by sky blue votives and silver-framed table numbers. Love it!

Oogling OOT Bags

I admit, I'm incredibly obsessed with OOT bags. For those of you that are unfamiliar, OOT bags are welcome gifts for Out of Town (OOT) guests. I love the hospitality of the gesture, the ability to shop for fun, mini-size goodies, and the craftiness of creating custom labels.

I haven't decided how I'm going to proceed, but here are some fun ideas:

I don't know if I'm going to go with baskets, gift bags, or those cool gable boxes, but I do know that we want to feature regional snacks from our hometown states:
Me: Georgia
Him: Florida
Us: Tennessee
Possibly moon pies from Tennessee? Peanuts and/or peaches from Georgia? Coconut patties from Florida? Yummmmm... the possibilities are endless.
